Getting Started with Your FeatherNet Feeder
Congratulations on your new FeatherNet feeder! Here’s everything you need to know to get set up and start meeting your backyard birds.
Choosing the Right Location
Place your feeder where you can see it from a window, but where birds feel safe. Near a tree or bush gives them a quick escape route from predators. Make sure it’s within WiFi range — check the app’s signal strength meter during setup.
The Best Birdseed
Black oil sunflower seeds attract the widest variety of species. For more variety, try a mix that includes safflower, nyjer thistle, and peanuts. Avoid cheap mixes with lots of milo or red millet — most birds ignore them.
Give It Time
It can take a few days for birds to discover a new feeder. Be patient. Once one bird finds it, word spreads fast in the bird community.
